Wire cutters, check!
Black tape, check!
Multi meter, check!
Crimping tool, check!
Electrical guru, check!
Fairings off, strip the black plastic from the loom and OH MY GOD! So many wires, So many colours!
So many little black boxes!
Thank God for the wiring diagram.
So I stand there looking at the technicolor spaghetti that Eric is busily snipping, shortening, soldering, testing, etc, and all I keep thinking is fuck I hope you know what you are doing!
Well of course he does, but my heart was in my mouth every time he had to fire her up to make sure he hadn't removed anything too vital.
We find the battery is fucked, most likely as it was left flat for so long whilst the insurance company was trying to get out of coffin up on the claim.
So its off to Weaponry for a new one and whilst I am there I order a Piper Cross Race air filter to get her breathing as well as possible.
Got great news from Borrie today, the Vortex 520 alloy rear sprockets have arrived from Mat Mladin Imports, we can really get cooking now.
The Vortex sprockets are really bling and fitted to the carrier perfectly, even the shallow recess for the nuts to fit into were so tight they eliminate the need for locktite. I'm very impressed with them. So all you 675 pilots out there can now bling up your rides with super light weight narrow 520 chain and Vortex sprocket sets. Why 520 and not the standard 525 I hear the less informed wondering? Well, 520 chains are thinner and cause less drag which equals more power and as a by product they are also lighter and coupled with these fabulous Vortex alloy sprockets, means you can eat more donuts!
They are available from your local bike shops through Mat Mladin Imports.
If all goes well we may have her out on the track for a bit of a test run on Sunday 15th July at Oran Park, Steve Cutting from Motorcycle Weaponry will pilot her in a BEARS race if it all goes well in practice.
Then the real work starts, engine development!
I dropped the BIKE ME! Triumph 675 down to Motorcycle Weaponry this morning and we got the little crack in the frame welded up, A big thank you to Andy at Albertross Engineering in Mona Vale, fair dinkum you would swear it had been welded at the factory, I have had stuff welded by Andy before, he's a very skilled perfectionist.
Something missing... Fuck ! No beer and pizza! Soon remedied. Time to begin.
