PROJECT BIKE ME! RACE BIKE PART IV

 by Dino

It's been a little slow waiting for the arrival of the much-needed parts and information to keep moving. But as you can see from the pic, she's got the look, and the visual presentation kicks on the mechanical motivation.

Now she is dressed, it all has to come off for some more fettling.

I have to thank a few more people at this point...

For the tank repair and paint, I am grateful to Kyle Jones and the boys at APW Motorcycles, 14 Winbourne Rd, Brookvale. Mention Dino from BIKE ME! and you will get well looked after.

The race glass I got already painted BIKE ME! Black for a very special price from Phil Grayson at Grayson and Sonter Motorcycles up at Coffs Harbour. They have been very helpful with information and a wiring diagram, which segues me nicely to the next job on the list, the wiring harness.

She's got the look

As this bike will never see the road again, we are about to strip the loom to its bare essentials. Not an easy job on modern bikes with fuel-injected engines running off a complex computer attached to a thousand sensors and cheeky whirring servos and fuel pumps all relying on a thousand meters of plastic clad copper cored neural pathways to give and receive its vital information from its computer brain. Unfortunately copper = weight, so the more we get rid of, the more donuts I can eat.

So it's off to my good friends at Motorcycle Weaponry so Erik Da Viking can get trimming.

I am currently waiting for Vortex alloy sprockets from the good fellows at Mat Mladin Imports, without which we can't put her on the dyno, but have been assured by Mr Bonfield they are winging their way to Australia as I type.

The nicest job so far I did this morning was when I put the BIKE ME! decals on the fairing.

I'm sure I heard just the slightest whimper of pleasure from the Triumph whilst gently caressing them into place.

Until next time,

Dino
